Fees & Administration
Spire Barristers Fees & Administration team is headed by the Chambers Administrator, Colin Philpott who is supported by Dave Hickey and Karen Green.
The team is on hand to assist with all aspects of members’ professional fees including billing, negotiations, assessment and aged debt collection. The team also assist with supplier invoices and payments.
As per our Terms of Service, chambers fee policy follows that of the Bar Standard Terms where fees are due within 30 days of delivery, unless an alternative arrangement has been made with Counsel.
For any queries, please contact fees@spirebarristers.co.uk or call 0113 200 2400.
We accept payment of barrister’s fees by electronic transfer (BACS). Please contact us for account details.
Legal Aid
Spire Barristers’ Legal Aid billing and administration team is headed by Dave Hickey. We aim to provide our clients with regular updated fees through the duration of each matter.
To enable counsel to bill in a timely fashion and reduce delay at the end of the case, we recommend providing the following documents for each instruction:
- A brief or letter indicating the instruction set out
- A sealed order listing the hearing
- A sealed order/final order (where applicable)
The full Legal Aid Agency assessment checklist and general Family Graduated Fee and Family Advocacy claim guidance can be found below.
Fee notes are generally provided by email in order for clients to allocate funds on the LAA’s Client and Costs Management System. Guidance on Allocating Costs to Counsel on CCMS is available on the LAA website.
If you would like an estimate of future Legal Aid costs, this can be provided on request.
